Orange juice is a miraculous substance: first cultivated in China in 2500BC, we’ve been drinking this stuff for breakfast for 5000 years. While it’s pretty well suited to accompany your piece of toast, it’s even better when the sun starts to go down.
Take this aperitif, an orange and agave punch, for instance. It’s a fresh, sweet cocktail with a tequila kick that’s a perfect way to start the night.
Pour a splash of fresh orange juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Follow that with a shot of 100 per cent Blue Agave Tequila - the good stuff - and a swig of Australian fortified wine (i.e., Port). Add a dash of Simple Syrup and squeeze over the juice of half a lemon. Shake it good.
Add some ice to a tall glass, and strain the punch from the shaker. Top off with some Schweppes Lemonade, and garnish with some slices of fresh orange and dark grapes.
